ON-PAGE SEO
Open Graph & X Card Checker
When someone shares a link, the platform builds the preview from the page’s Open Graph tags. Without them the share shows the wrong image, a cut title or nothing at all. This check reads the tags from the live page and shows the card they produce.

HOW IT WORKS
How to use the Open Graph & X Card Checker
One public page URL.
Enter the URL you want to share.
Look at the preview, then fix the tags marked as problems.
After a fix, ask each platform to refresh its cached preview with its own debugging tool.
WHAT IT CHECKS
What it looks at, and how to read it.
A share preview, checks on the Open Graph and X card tags, and every social tag found.
What it checks
- og:title, og:description, og:url and og:type
- og:image: present, absolute, https and large enough
- og:url agreeing with the canonical URL
- twitter:card and the X fallbacks to og: tags
How to read the results
- A missing og:image is the problem people notice most: shares look empty.
- X reads og: tags for the title, description and image; twitter:card sets the card size.
- Platforms cache previews, so a fixed page can still show the old card for a while.

GOOD TO KNOW
Common mistakes, an example and the limits.
Common mistakes
- A relative image path like /images/share.jpg instead of a full URL.
- Using the logo as the share image on every page.
- Images far smaller than 1200×630, which get the small card layout.
A worked example
Product links shared on WhatsApp show no picture. The check finds og:image set to a relative path; making it a full https URL fixes the preview.
Limitations
- Checks the HTML the server sends. Content a page adds with JavaScript after loading is not seen.
- Some sites block or challenge automated requests; then the result shows what a crawler without a browser would get.
- The preview is an approximation; each platform crops images and trims text in its own way, and caches previews for days.
FAQ
Questions about the Open Graph & X Card Checker
Straight answers about what it does and where its limits are.
What size should the og:image be?
1200×630 pixels works well across platforms. Keep the key subject in the centre, since some platforms crop to a square.
Do Open Graph tags help rankings?
No. They change how shared links look, which affects clicks from social and messaging apps, not search rankings.
