WHAT IT MEASURES
What the analytics view reads from GA4.
What each metric tells you, and where it comes from.
| Metric | What it tells you | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Sessions | Visits recorded by your GA4 property. | Google Analytics 4 |
| Engagement rate | Share of sessions that were engaged by GA4’s definition. | Google Analytics 4 |
| Key events | The events you marked as key events in GA4. | Google Analytics 4 |
| Revenue | Purchase revenue recorded by GA4 e-commerce events. | Google Analytics 4 |
| AI referral sessions | Sessions from recognised AI assistants. | GA4 referrers, classified by Ndovu |
| Clicks vs sessions gap | Google clicks compared with GA4 organic sessions for the same pages. | Search Console + GA4 |
| Site search terms | What visitors search for on your site. | Google Analytics 4 |
UNDER THE HOOD
How the analytics view is built.
How the numbers are produced, so you can judge them for yourself.
Your property, read-only
Ndovu reads the GA4 property you choose with the Google Analytics Data API: sessions, engagement, key events, revenue, channels, devices and landing pages. It never changes tags, events or settings.
AI referrals by referrer
Sessions are classed as AI referrals when their source matches a known AI assistant. Assistants that pass no referrer arrive as direct traffic and cannot be identified, so the AI number is a floor.
Clicks against sessions
For each landing page, Google clicks from Search Console sit beside GA4 organic sessions. A large, steady gap usually means consent, tagging or redirect problems rather than lost visitors.
Health before conclusions
Measurement health looks for key events that stopped firing, days without data and a large unassigned share, and puts those warnings next to the numbers they affect.
HOW IT WORKS
From question to a reviewed decision.
Three steps from connecting your data to a decision you can stand behind.
Connect
Authorise Google and choose the GA4 property for the project. The connection is read-only.
Compare
Read landing pages, channels and AI referrals against the previous period and Search Console clicks.
Fix the gaps
Resolve tracking gaps first, then act on the pages that convert.
WITH YOUR AI AGENT
Ask which pages turn search into sales.
Your agent reads GA4 landing pages, key events and revenue, and checks measurement health before it trusts a number.
- Uses the same data as the web app
- Paid tools estimate their cost first
- Saves the report to the project
YouWhich organic landing pages convert best, and can we trust the numbers?

Agent/phones/phone-a/ converts at 3.1% from organic search, the best of your top 20 pages. One caution: the purchase event has not fired for 7 days, so this week’s revenue is incomplete.
YouIs the AI traffic worth anything?
AgentAI assistants sent 2,000 sessions this month with a 2.4% key-event rate, close to organic search. ChatGPT sent the most.

DATA & LIMITS
Know what the numbers can and cannot tell you.
Where the data comes from, how fresh it is, and the questions it cannot answer on its own.
| Source | What it provides | Freshness & limits |
|---|---|---|
| Google Analytics Data API | Sessions, engagement, key events, revenue, channels and pages. | Read-only; GA4 thresholds and Consent Mode can withhold or model data. |
| Google Search Console | Clicks for the same pages, for the comparison. | About three days behind. |
| Ndovu AI referral list | Which referrers count as AI assistants. | Assistants that send no referrer cannot be identified. |
GA4 is a measurement, not the truth
Consent choices, ad blockers and tag gaps all change what GA4 records.
AI referrals are a floor
Visits from assistants that pass no referrer are not counted as AI traffic.
Clicks and sessions differ
A Google click and a GA4 session are different things, which is why the gap is shown.
Correlation, not attribution
A conversion on a landing page is not a causal attribution study.

CHOOSE THE RIGHT VIEW
Which view answers which question.
Start where the question points. Each view keeps its own source.
| Your question | Start with | Why |
|---|---|---|
| What happened after the click? | Analytics & AI referrals | GA4 sessions, events and revenue. |
| How much of my traffic is automated? | Traffic Quality | Evidence of bots in GA4. |
| Which searches brought the visit? | Search Console insights | Queries and clicks from Google. |

FAQ
Analytics: common questions.
Straight answers about what it does, what it costs and where its limits are.
Does reading GA4 data cost credits?
No. Reading your own GA4 property uses Google’s free API and never uses credits.
Which AI assistants are recognised?
Visits referred by known AI assistants such as ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Copilot. Assistants that pass no referrer cannot be identified, so the count is a floor, not a total.
Why do Google clicks and GA4 sessions differ?
They measure different things: a click in Google and a session in your analytics. Consent, ad blockers and tracking gaps widen the difference, which is why the comparison is shown.
Does Ndovu change my GA4 setup?
No. The connection is read-only. Ndovu reports what the property records and points out gaps you can fix.
Which GA4 property is used?
The property you choose for the project. You can change it in the project settings.
Does it show e-commerce revenue?
Yes, when the property records GA4 e-commerce events: purchases, revenue, conversion rate and revenue per session.
Can I see site search terms?
Yes, when GA4 records site search for the property.
Does Ndovu install or change tracking?
No. It reads what the property records and points out gaps for you to fix.
Can my agent read GA4?
Yes. Agents can read organic overviews, landing pages, key events, e-commerce, acquisition and measurement health.
What are the limits of the data?
Analytics reflects what the connected property records. Identified AI referrals are not a complete count of every AI-assisted visit, and a recorded conversion is not a causal attribution study.
