Category Page SEO Checker
Category pages are usually a store’s strongest pages for broad searches, and the easiest place to waste crawling: every filter and sort option can make a new URL. This checker reads a category page and reports its search basics and how many parameter links it hands crawlers.

HOW IT WORKS
How to use the Category Page SEO Checker
One public category or collection page URL.
Enter a category URL, and then page 2 of it.
Fix basic problems and pagination canonicals.
If many filter links are crawlable, size the problem with the Faceted URL Crawl Risk Analyzer.
WHAT IT CHECKS
What it looks at, and how to read it.
Counts of internal, pagination and parameter links, and checks on the page’s search setup.
What it checks
- Status, noindex, title, meta description and one H1
- Page 2+ canonicalised to page 1
- Crawlable links with parameters
- rel=next/prev, BreadcrumbList, amount of text
How to read the results
- Each page of a series should be its own canonical so the products on it are found.
- Many followed filter links are a risk, not an error; it depends on what robots.txt and canonicals do with them.
The concepts behind it, in the SEO glossary: Faceted navigation.
GOOD TO KNOW
Common mistakes, an example and the limits.
Common mistakes
- noindex on page 2 and beyond, which can hide older products.
- Category text that is a block of keywords below the products.
A worked example
A phones category links to 140 filter combinations, all followable, while page 2 names page 1 as canonical.
Limitations
- Checks the HTML the server sends. Content a page adds with JavaScript after loading is not seen.
- Some sites block or challenge automated requests; then the result shows what a crawler without a browser would get.
- Filter links are counted as internal links with query parameters; filters in the path (/color-black/) are not recognised.
FAQ
Questions about the Category Page SEO Checker
Straight answers about what it does and where its limits are.
Does Google still use rel=next and rel=prev?
