Domain Age & RDAP Lookup
RDAP is the registries’ modern replacement for WHOIS: the same registration facts in a structured form. Checking it tells you how long a domain has existed, when it must be renewed, and whether the registry has put it on hold, which takes a site offline.

HOW IT WORKS
How to use the Domain Age & RDAP Lookup
A domain, or any URL on it.
Enter the domain, or paste any URL on it.
Check the expiry and status first.
Use the dates and registrar when vetting a domain to buy or a site to work with.
WHAT IT CHECKS
What it looks at, and how to read it.
The registration record and checks for expiry, holds and DNSSEC.
What it checks
- Registration, expiry and last-changed dates
- Expired or soon-to-expire registrations
- clientHold and serverHold statuses
- Registrar, name servers and DNSSEC
How to read the results
- An expiry within 30 days is a risk if auto-renew is off.
- A hold status means the domain is not published in DNS, whatever the site’s own setup.
GOOD TO KNOW
Common mistakes, an example and the limits.
Common mistakes
- Letting a domain expire because the renewal emails go to a former employee.
A worked example
A lookup shows a domain registered in 2014 and expiring in 12 days, on a registrar account no one at the company can access.
Limitations
- Some country-code registries do not publish RDAP yet; then the tool says so instead of guessing.
- Registrant contact details are usually redacted for privacy and are not shown.
- Domain age is not a ranking factor on its own; it helps with due diligence on a domain you plan to buy or link to.

Does domain age help rankings?
