GOOD TO KNOW
Common mistakes, an example and the limits.
Common mistakes
- Counting menu and footer links as editorial links.
- Missing links added by JavaScript after loading, which this HTML check does not see.
A worked example
A category page has 240 links, 190 of them in the menu and footer; only 12 point to products, which explains why new products are found slowly.
Limitations
- Checks the HTML the server sends. Content a page adds with JavaScript after loading is not seen.
- Some sites block or challenge automated requests; then the result shows what a crawler without a browser would get.
- Lists up to 1,000 links; counts include every link.
FAQ
Questions about the Page Link Extractor
Straight answers about what it does and where its limits are.
Does it follow the links?
No. It lists them. Use the Bulk HTTP Status Checker to test where a list of links goes.
Why is a link I can see missing?
It may be added by JavaScript, or be a button rather than a link. This tool reads the server’s HTML.
