KEYWORD RESEARCH
Search Intent Classifier
The same product can be searched to buy, to compare or to learn, and each needs a different page. This classifier labels every keyword with one intent and the modifiers it carries (budget, condition, location, specs), using the same rules as the NdovuSEOLabs platform.

HOW IT WORKS
How to use the Search Intent Classifier
Keywords, one per line, and optionally your brand names.
Paste keywords, one per line.
Add your brand names so branded searches are labelled as such.
Use the labels to match each keyword to the right page type.
WHAT IT CHECKS
What it looks at, and how to read it.
Each keyword’s intent and modifiers, intent counts, and a CSV.
What it checks
- Branded, local, navigational, transactional, commercial and informational words
- Named products and categories
- Modifiers such as budget, condition, deals and location
How to read the results
- Transactional and commercial keywords suit product and category pages.
- Informational keywords suit guides and answers.
- Local keywords need a location page or local signals.
The concepts behind it, in the SEO glossary: Search intent.
GOOD TO KNOW
Common mistakes, an example and the limits.
Common mistakes
- Targeting an informational keyword with a product page.
- Treating every keyword with a price word as ready to buy.
- Leaving brand names out, so branded searches look like demand.
A worked example
"buy samsung a16" is transactional, "samsung a16 vs a26" commercial with a comparison modifier, "how to reset samsung a16" informational.
Limitations
- Rule-based: it reads the words, not the search results, so a bare product name gets a product label rather than a guess.
- Rules are written for English and common Kenyan Swahili shopping words.
FAQ
Questions about the Search Intent Classifier
Straight answers about what it does and where its limits are.
How accurate is it?
It is consistent and explainable: the same words always get the same label. It cannot see the search results, which can reveal a different intent for ambiguous keywords.
Why is my keyword "Other"?
It has no intent words and no recognised product or category; that is common for very short or unusual queries.
